JAKARTA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Annualized consumer price index in Indonesia ticked down in September, giving rooms to the monetary policy maker to conduct a further interest rate cut to shore up the country's flagging economic growth.

The national statistics bureau on Tuesday said inflation edged down 3.39 percent in September year-over-year, compared with 3.49 percent in August.

On month, inflation logged minus 0.27 percent in September, compared with 0.12 percent in presiding month due to subdued prices of chilli, eggs and shallots, the bureau said in a statement.

Annualized core inflation, excluding administered prices and volatile food prices, drifted higher 3.32 percent in September from 3.30 percent in August, it said.

The Indonesian central bank has ratcheted down its benchmark interest rate three times this year to 5.25 percent, a move aiming at spurring economic growth amid global economic uncertainty.

The lender has set an inflation target range of 2.5 to 4.5 percent this year.

The Indonesian government has expected the Southeast Asia's biggest economy to accelerate 5.13 percent this year, as weakening global demands have eroded the country's export and weakened imports of capital goods.
