American Muhammad breaks women's 400m hurdles world record in Doha

DOHA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Olympic champion and world top ranked Dalilah Muhammad of the United States renewed her own world record as she stormed to win the women's 400m hurdles gold medal at the 2019 athletics world championships here on Friday.

The 29-year-old American, who collected two silver medals in the previous two editions of the competition, clocked 52.16 seconds to wrap up the victory, trimming 0.04s off the world record she set in July in her country.

Her compatriot Sydney McLaughlin finished second with a personal best of 52.23. Jamaica's Rushell Clayton took the bronze medal in 53.74.
