BELGRADE, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Serbia defeated Paraguay 1-0 in an international friendly football match at Krusevac, Serbia on Thursday after breaking the deadlock in the final moments of the game.

The guest team created the first opportunities, and sent the first shot on goal defended by Predrag Rajkovic.

However, the biggest opportunity for the home team came in 25th minute when Adem Ljajic dribbled through the defense and sent a fierce shot towards the goal of Paraguay that ended - in the crossbar.

After an attempt to provoke a penalty kick by acting a foul, Miguel Almiron was sent off by the referee with a red card in 53rd minute.

Despite the advantage in number of players on the field, the home team seemed to lack energy to create goal opportunities.

However just as the crowds at the stadium in Krusevac were losing hope for the home team to profit from their position, Aleksandar Mitrovic managed to out-jump the defense of Paraguay and direct a long pass towards the goal with his head in the 90th minute.

The victory comes as a psychological advantage for Serbia ahead of its Euro 2020 qualifying game against Lithuania.
