Light supplementing system introduced to dragon fruit planting bases in Longan, S China

Aerial photo taken on Oct. 15, 2019 shows the light supplementing system in operation at a dragon fruit planting base in Longan County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In recent years, Longan has strived to develop modern planting of dragon fruits. The light supplementing system has been introduced to several large and medium-scaled dragon fruit planting bases in Longan to enhance photosynthesis and prolong the fruiting period of dragon fruits. By the end of 2018, the planting area of dragon fruits in Longan reached 50,000 mu (about 3,333 hectares) and the annual output exceeded 100,000 tons. (Xinhua/Cao Yiming)
