Chinese shares end lower at midday Friday

BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- China's major stock indices ended lower in the morning session Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ending 0.59 percent lower at 2,959.76 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index edged down 0.43 percent to end at 9,603.88 points at midday.
