25th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship kicks off in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The 25th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship kicked off on Sunday in Farwaniya Governorate of Kuwait.

A total of 228 athletes from 27 countries and regions will participate in the championship, which will last until Oct. 30.

A number of Kuwaiti and international sports figures, including World Bowling President and President of Asian Bowling Federation Sheikh Talal Mohammad Al-Sabah, participated in the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Sheikh Talal Mohammad Al-Sabah said that the continental gathering is organized with an aim to "restore Kuwait's leadership in all areas, including sports."

He praised the support of Kuwait's General Authority for Sports and other related parties which contributed to facilitating the work of the preparatory committee.
