Iranian president to visit Azerbaijan for NAM summit

TEHRAN, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will make an official visit to Azerbaijan on Thursday to participate in the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Iranian presidential office announced on Wednesday.

Rouhani will visit Baku at the official invitation of his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev, it said.

Rouhani will address the summit about Iran's stance on important regional and international issues, it added.

During the two-day meeting slated for Oct. 25-26, Rouhani will also hold bilateral meetings with a number of the heads of states over the topics of mutual interests.

Azerbaijan will formally take over the chairmanship of NAM for the next three years at the Baku Summit.
