TUNIS, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Libyan authorities have closed the Tunisia-Libya border at the Ras Jedir crossing point in southeastern Tunisia, the Tunis Afrique Presse reported on Thursday.
"The traffic of passengers and goods, at the border post of Ras Jdir, was suspended in the evening of Wednesday to Thursday by a Libyan decision," the report quoted a security official as saying.
No reason was given for the closure.
The activity of the crossing point was limited to ensuring the return of passengers from both countries, said the official on condition of anonymity.
The Libyan decision also ended the intra-trade movement, which accounts for the most activities of the Tunisian city of Ben Guerdane.
Ras Jedir is located at about 600 km southeast of the Tunisian capital Tunis. It is considered one of the most important border crossing points between the two countries, and has been closed several times in the last few months.
