Macao Orchestra to play "Yellow River Cantata" in Beijing

BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Macao Orchestra will join hands with the orchestra and choir of the National Center for the Performing Arts to perform the "Yellow River Cantata" on Saturday and Sunday in Beijing.

Led by renowned Chinese conductor Lv Jia, the show will also include classic music pieces such as "Farewell Song" by Li Shutong, "Flags are Fluttering" by Huang Zi and Xian Xinghai's "On the Taihang Mountains."

Tickets for the show are on sale ranging from 50 yuan (about 7 U.S. dollars) to 480 yuan.

Established in 1983, the Macao Orchestra is now a medium-sized professional ensemble with over 60 members and performs over 90 times every music season.

The music group also frequently collaborates with international musicians such as Leonidas Kavakos, Barry Douglas, Lang Lang and Sarah Chang, as well as with ensembles including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Latvian National Opera and the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater.
