Inter Bratislava basketball club loses to ZZ Leiden in FIBA Europe Cup

BRATISLAVA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Slovak basketball club Inter Bratislava was forced to bow before the Dutch team ZZ Leiden, losing 80-67 on Wednesday in their second Group A match of the FIBA Europe Cup.

The visitors from Slovakia started well, sinking five three-point shots and leading 38-32 at half time thanks to a strong performance by the bench. However, the home team pleased its fans by rallying in the third period with 15 straight points and holding on to the lead in the final outing to achieve their first victory in Group A and move to the second spot.

American player Anthony Persons led Leiden's scoring with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, his teammate Jarvis Williams added 20 points and ten rebounds.

Benfica Lisbon is sitting on top of Group A with two victories after defeating Hungarian team Pecs 89-81 on Tuesday. The runner-up of the Portuguese league Benfica will face Bratislava next.
