10 rockets fired from Gaza into southern Israel

GAZA, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 rockets were fired on Friday night from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, Israeli and Palestinian sources said.

Israeli media reported that sirens were heard in southern Israel after several rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, no one claimed responsibility and no injuries or damage were reported.

It's the second time in the last 24 hours that rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel. Several explosions were heard in southern Israel after Israel's Iron Dome anti-rocket system intercepted the rockets fired from Gaza.

Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses said that Israeli army tanks stationed in eastern Gaza targeted a military facility belonging to Hamas armed wing, no injuries were reported, but severe damage was caused to the militants' facility in eastern Gaza, close to the border with Israel.

Hundreds of Palestinians flocked to the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip with Israel to join the weekly anti-Israel rallies and protests, better known as the Great March of Return which has been going on since late March last year.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza said in an emailed press statement that 96 Palestinian demonstrators were injured in eastern Gaza, 57 of whom were shot and injured by Israeli soldiers' gunfire.
