SHANGHAI, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ferrero Group, the world's third-largest confectionery manufacturer, launched two new products to Chinese consumers at the ongoing second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

The products are Kinder Happy Hippo, a biscuit product that Ferrero said marks its "breakthrough in the biscuit sector for the very first time in China," and Mon Cheri, a dark chocolate with juicy cherry.

The move showed Ferrero's resolution to expand its business in China's "sweet packaged food" market, which has rising potential, the Italian company told Xinhua on Friday.

Mauro De Felip, general manager of Ferrero China, said that China has become a "core priority" for Ferrero in terms of its market growth and that Ferrero believes the CIIE is an ideal stage to launch its new products to "expand our footprint in new categories."

"The CIIE is a bilateral trade event held by China that benefits the world and provides an unparalleled opportunity of exchange and communication," said De Felip.

The import-themed fair running from Tuesday to Sunday has drawn over 3,000 businesses around the world, including more than 170 Italian companies, to seek opportunities in the Chinese market.
