BEIRUT, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of Lebanese demonstrators blocked streets all over Lebanon on Wednesday to express their outrage over President Michel Aoun's remarks in a televised interview a day earlier and the death of a protester in Khaldeh, south of Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.

Protesters threatened to go to Baabda Palace and force the President to resign if he and all other officials do not submit their resignations within 48 hours.

President Aoun's remarks were misinterpreted when he called upon protesters to send a representative capable of conducting negotiations with Lebanese authorities to meet people's demands.

Aoun had said during the interview that if there are "no decent people from the movement to participate in a discussion, let them immigrate because in this case they will not reach a position of authority in Lebanon."

Protesters thought that Aoun had said that people should immigrate if they do not like any decent person in authority.

Demonstrators are also angry over the death of a protester in Khaldeh while the Lebanese army was trying to disperse protesters who took to the streets after Aoun's speech.

Lebanon has been witnessing 28 days of nationwide protests against the ruling political class which they consider as corrupt and incapable of implementing necessary reforms measures to save the deteriorating economic situation.

President Aoun has not yet started consultations with MPs to name a new prime minister after the resignation of PM Saad Hariri's government following pressure from the streets.

The delay in the formation of a new government has also angered protesters who believe that authorities are not taking their demands seriously.
