Israel's Hapoel Holon edge Spain's Baxi Manresa 90-88 in basketball Champions League

JERUSALEM, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Israel's Hapoel Holon achieved a 90-88 win over Spain's Baxi Manresa in the fifth round of the FIBA Basketball Champion's League on Wednesday.

Following the home win - at Toto Arena in Israel's central city of Holon - the two teams now have 3 wins and 2 losses each in the 8-team Group A.

The Spanish team dominated the first quarter (24-13) and increased the lead to 40-24 in the 15th minute, much thanks to points and rebounds by Jaumpi Vaulet.

Then, the home team, in an impressive comeback, cut the deficit to 41-43 at halftime.

Holon's shooting guard Marcus Foster led Holon to the first lead of the game, 50-49 in the 23rd minute. The close game continued until the end of the quarter (66-63 in favor the home side).

Excellent fourth quarter by center Richard Howell helped Holon extend the gap to 75-67 in the 34th minute, but Manresa's stayed alive (76-76).

Foster scored a team high of 23 points, and his teammate Latavious Williams added 16 points.

Manresa's shooting guard Ryan Toolson led his team with 26 points. His teammate Juampi Vaulet added 13 points.

Manresa will play their next game in Spain against Belgium's Filou Ostend, while Holon will play in Israel against Italian team Dinamo Sassari - with both games to be played on November 19.
