WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan Wednesday announced their decision to retire from professional tennis in 2020.

The 41-year-old American twins will bid farewell following next year's US Open, scene of their major championship debut in 1995, marking the culmination of a legendary doubles partnership.

As the most accomplished team in doubles history, the Bryan brothers have captured an Open Era record 118 trophies in 25-season careers, including all four Grand Slams and all nine ATP Masters 1000 events. They own the all-time record of 16 men's doubles Grand Slam titles and 39 ATP Masters 1000 crowns. They also won gold medal at the London Olympic Games.

"We are currently extremely motivated and excited going into our last season. We will enjoy and appreciate each moment we have while saying our goodbyes and giving thanks to the fans who have given us so much joy," said Mike Bryan, who's the elder by two minutes.

"For the last 21 years, we have been so grateful for the opportunity to live out our dreams of playing professional tennis. It has truly been a magical ride. However, we want to end this great ride while we're healthy and we can still compete for titles," added Bob Bryan.
