SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Shen Zijie's shot in the final second helped Shenzhen recover a 16-point deficit to beat Xinjiang Flying Tigers 104-102 in the 2019-20 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Sunday.

Dwight Buycks scored a game-high 29 points and Gu Quan added 22 for Shenzhen. Kay Felder had 24 for Xinjiang.

It seemed the match would go to overtime when Abudushalamu hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 102-102 with only l.7 seconds on the clock. But Gu Quan made a long throw from the baseline before Shen Zijie caught the ball under the basket and pulled himself up to drop it into the net with a backhand.

"We have practised this kind of pass a lot for the past four years," Gu spoke of the buzzer beater.

Xinjiang led for most of the contest, 24-22 up after the first quarter and leading 53-44 at halftime. Shenzhen stormed to a 10-0 spurt in the third quarter and trailed by just one point at 76-75 into the last quarter, setting up the late drama.

With the win, Shenzhen climbed to 10th place in the standings while Xinjiang continue to sit second.

"Hopefully we can keep the momentum and bring our team back on the right track," Gu said.
