BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Argentine international duo Ezequiel Ivan Lavezzi and Javier Mascherano are set to leave Hebei China Fortune at the end of the current season, the Chinese Super League (CSL) side has confirmed.
Hebei China Fortune held a brief farewell ceremony for Lavezzi and Mascherano Wednesday night before they hosted Guangzhou Evergrand on home soil in the 29th round of CSL fixtures, with video highlights about their CSL playing moments played on the big screens inside the stadium.
"I want to thank everybody here, my teammates, coaches, the work staff and all the others I've met here. I've had fond memories at the club since I joined four years ago," said Lavezzi, who has been linked with a possible move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Mascherano, who reportedly will transfer to Argentina's Estudiantes La Plata next season, expressed his gratitude as well. "I'm grateful for the hospitality of all of you over the past two years. I wish the club all the best," said the 35-year-old midfielder.
Lavezzi, who had previously played for Napoli and Paris SG, joined Hebei China Fortune in 2016. The 34-year-old forward scored 20 goals and added 15 assists in the 2017 season.
Mascherano moved to Hebei China Fortune in 2018 following a brilliant spell at Spanish giants Barcelona.
