BEIRUT, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League assistant secretary-general said on Thursday that the organization is ready to take any necessary measures to help Lebanon solve its crisis, Lebanese presidency website reported.

"We are ready to support Lebanon in solving its crisis. We will listen to everybody to see if we can play any role in finding the necessary solutions," Hossam Zaki said during his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in the capital Beirut.

During his meeting with Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri, Zaki highlighted the need to form a new government in Lebanon to solve the economic crisis and prevent civil strife.

Lebanon has been witnessing nationwide protests for over 40 days which led to the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri's government.

Aoun has failed so far to hold parliamentary consultations to name a new prime minister capable of forming a new government to deal with Lebanon's deteriorating economic and financial situation.
