Indonesia's golf squad eyes silver in SEA Games

JAKARTA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's golf team departed to the Philippines on Thursday to compete in the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games expecting to secure one silver and one bronze medal, an association official said.

The Indonesian squad comprises seven players and four coaches, according to the country's golf association.

"They have been maximally prepared and we expect them to secure medals," said association chief Murdaya Po, during a ceremony to see off the departing athletes.

By way of preparation, the golfers had competed in several tournaments, according to the association.

The golf event during the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines is scheduled to be played from December 4 to 8.

The 30th edition of the biennial regional multi-sports event is scheduled to be held in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11.
