BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A report unveiled Thursday showed that river tourism featuring cultural experiences has witnessed accelerated development, widely welcomed by tourists from home and abroad.
The report on tourism along major rivers summarized research regarding the cultural and tourism industry along rivers worldwide, including the Amazon, the Yellow and the Yangtze.
Tourism products offering deeper cultural experiences have caught on among tourists at home and abroad, and will become the trend for the future development of river tourism, according to the report.
The report put forward a development mode which takes history and culture, water conservancy projects, riverside landscape and folk customs as core attractions, and suggested that tourism development and ecological protection should both be taken into account.
The report was issued by the World Tourism Alliance and the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University.
