LONDON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah of Britain is going to defend his 10,000m title at the Tokyo Olympics as the prolific long-distance runner announced his return to the track on Friday.

Farah, 36, released a video on social media, saying that he has decided to go back training for the 10,000m event, where he won two consecutive Olympic golds. He also took victory in the 5,000m event at both London and Rio Olympic Games.

"Next year, I'm going to be back on the track and I'm going to give it a go in the 10,000m. Hopefully I haven't lost my speed but I will train hard for it and see what I can do," said Farah.

After grabbing his sixth title at the World Championships in the 10,000m race in London 2017, Farah turned his focus on marathon.

He won the Chicago Marathon last year and came third in the London Marathon the same year.
