JINAN, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- East China's Shandong Province expects to raise the average life expectancy of its residents to around 81 years by 2030 through a slew of pro-health measures, according to local authorities.

The province also expects declines in infant mortality rate, mortality rate of children under five and fertilization maternal mortality by 2030.

To accomplish the goals, the provincial government has recently published a guideline on promoting a healthy lifestyle, putting forward 15 initiatives including the popularization of health knowledge, balanced diets, fitness-for-all programs and smoking control.

To improve the health of primary and secondary school students, Shandong will better the health care service system, prevent and control short-sightedness among students and include the physical health conditions of students into the performance assessment of schools.
