Adventure comedy "Jumanji: The Next Level" continues to lead Chinese mainland box office

BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- "Jumanji: The Next Level," a sequel to the 2017 American adventure comedy film "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," topped the Chinese mainland box office Saturday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network Sunday.

The film raked in 64.92 million yuan (about 9.22 million U.S. dollars) on Saturday, accounting for over 30 percent of the daily total.

The film tells of a team of friends who return to the dangerous virtual world of the video game Jumanji to rescue one of their own and need to brave parts unknown, from arid deserts to snowy mountains, in order to escape the game.

It was followed by Chinese crime drama "The Wild Goose Lake," which grossed about 52.93 million yuan.

Coming in third was "Frozen II," a sequel to the 2013 Disney animated blockbuster "Frozen." It pocketed 32.01 million yuan.
