Chinese athletes fail to reach final in 2019 women's snowboard big air

BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- 28 players competed for eight final tickets in the qualification competition for women's snowboard big air on Thursday, with China sending four players who all failed to reach the final.

The day's youngest athlete, 15-year-old Kokomo Murase of Japan, claimed first place with a total score of 173.00, followed by Zoi Sadowski Synnott, who represented New Zealand, who powered to the final with 165.75 points.

In third place was American Jamie Anderson with 162.75 points, and after her was Reira Iwabuchi, a Japanese with 162.25 points.

Defending champion Anna Gasser from Austria ranked fifth with 159.25 points, while Canadian Laurie Blouin ranked sixth behind Anna Gasser by a point. The final two seats in the final are for Julia Marino of the US and Miyabi Onitsuka of Japan, with 155.25 and 152.00 points, respectively.

Chinese athlete Ren Ziyan scored 75.25 to rank 21st. Li Dongyu scored 51.75 (23rd), Zhang Tong scored 34.50 (25th) and Zhai Yue scored 32.75 (ranked 26th).
