Four killed in road accident in NW Russia

MOSCOW, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed in a car accident on Tuesday in Russia's northwestern Novgorod region, regional traffic police division of the country's Interior Ministry said in a statement.

An Opel driven on a local highway by a 38-year old man on Tuesday morning moved unexpectedly into the oncoming lane and collided with a Lada Largus wagon, the statement said.

It said two drivers involved in the accident, and two passengers on the Lada were killed, while another Lada passenger survived and was taken to a local hospital in grave condition.

Investigators are working on the scene to determine the cause of the accident, the statement said.
