TIRANA, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- In the third quarter of 2019, Albania's unemployment rate stood at 11.4 percent, according to the Quarterly Labor Force Survey published here on Tuesday by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).
According to the survey, the official unemployment rate in the third quarter for people aged 15 and above is 11.4 percent, decreasing by 0.8 percentage point year-on-year.
In the third quarter, the labor force participation rate for the population aged from 15 and above is 69.8 percent -- 62 percent for women and 77.7 percent for men.
The survey shows that during the third quarter of 2019, the employment rate for the population aged between 15 to 64 is 61.5 percent -- 68.5 percent for male and 54.7 percent for female. The gender gap in employment for this age group is 13.8 percent.
According to the survey, over the third quarter of 2019, 17.3 percent of those economically inactive and at working age were fulfilling household duties, 11.3 percent were in retirement or early retirement, 11.5 percent permanently disabled, whereas 8.8 percent declared that they believe that no work is available, which are classified as discouraged workers.
According to INSTAT, the country's population in Jan. 1 this year was 2.86 million people.
