JAKARTA, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian last year's inflation accelerated at the slowest pace since 1999 as administered prices were under control.

The Central Bureau of Statistics announced on Thursday that annualized inflation touched 2.72 percent from January to December of 2019 due to the rising food prices.

The annual core inflation excluding administered prices and volatile food prices nudged lower to 3.02 percent in 2019 from 3.07 percent in 2018, said Kecuk Suhariyanto, head of the bureau.

On monthly basis, the inflation edged up 0.34 percent in December from 0.27 percent in November, he said.

The global economic uncertainty has dragged down the country's exports and imports of capital goods and raw materials amid the slowdown of household consumption.

Although the country's posed tepid inflation figure last year, the central bank, Bank Indonesia, still needs to heed further signals from the U.S. Federal Reserve before applying loosening policies in a month to come.

The government said that the country's economic growth is likely not to achieve its initial target of 5.3 percent in 2019.
