HOHHOT, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- A large-scale ancient kiln site was found in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the regional archaeological research institute said Monday.
The official-run kiln that dates back to China's Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 A.D.) was unearthed in ancient city ruins near Hohhot, capital of the autonomous region.
The unearthed items include eight brick kilns and one tomb, among which pillar holes were found in each kiln.
The discovery will offer rich materials for studying the architecture of kilns in the Han Dynasty and the culture and economic importance of ancient cities in the region, said researchers with the institute.
