Tibet's phone users exceed 3.9 million

LHASA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- The total number of phone subscribers in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region reached 3.97 million as of November 2019, the regional communications administration said Tuesday.

The penetration rate stood at 115.44 phone sets per 100 people. The number of mobile phone users reached 3.25 million. Broadband subscribers topped 926,000, an increase of 144,000 compared with the end of 2018.

In the meantime, the communications administration has so far intercepted 1.58 million scam calls, recovering direct economic losses of over 3 million yuan (about 430,000 U.S. dollars).
