ACCRA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has congratulated Anin Yeboah, a member of FIFA's disciplinary committee, who has been sworn into office as the country's new chief justice.

In a statement issued in Accra, the GFA said it was profoundly proud but unsurprised by the achievements and the well-deserved elevation of Justice Yeboah.

It noted that as former chairman of both the disciplinary and appeals committees of the GFA, his knowledge, dedication, and humility are well known to the football fraternity.

The statement said it was through these remarkable qualities that FIFA first appointed him as a member of its ethics committee and later elected him to chair its disciplinary committee, making him the first to be elected to that position following the reforms in FIFA.

Prior to working with FIFA, Justice Yeboah had also served on the appeals committee of the confederation of African football.

In September 2019, he was listed onto the CAF/FIFA reform implementation taskforce team for African football, being appointed alongside five others to carry out reforms within African football.

"Justice Anin Yeboah has glittered whenever he has worked, and we are confident he will repose the confidence both the executive and legislative arm of our government have shown in him," the GFA said.

Justice Yeboah becomes the 14th person to hold the important office of Chief Justice.
