BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- "Dolittle," an American fantasy adventure film starring Robert Downey Jr., is set to land in Chinese theaters on Feb. 21, Universal Pictures announced Tuesday via its Weibo account.
Based on the character Doctor Dolittle created by English author Hugh Lofting in his 1920s children's books, the comedy film revolves around Dolittle, who is forced to set sail on an adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure when the young queen falls ill.
In the film, Dolittle regains his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures.
Also known as "The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle," the film is directed by Stephen Gaghan, the Oscar-winning screenplay writer of the 2000 film "Traffic."
