WUHAN, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Authorities will add an additional 100,000 charging piles to meet the power demand of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in 2020 in the city of Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.
Wuhan currently has 68,500 NEVs on the road and 142,000 charging piles already supplying electric power for the vehicles, according to the city government report.
Wuhan built more than 100,000 charging piles in 2019. Last year, NEVs used 259 million kWh of electricity, up 109 percent year on year, according to the Wuhan branch of the State Grid.
China saw a total of 1.04 million NEVs sold in the first 11 months of 2019, up 1.3 percent year on year, while production rose 3.6 percent to 1.09 million units, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
