HANOI, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The first two cases of novel coronavirus in Vietnam have been reported in the country's southern Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, Vietnam News Agency reported.

A 66-year-old Chinese man and his 28-year-old son were diagnosed with novel coronavirus pneumonia at the city's Cho Ray Hospital, the news agency quoted the hospital sources as saying on Thursday night.

The father travelled from central China's Wuhan to Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Jan. 13, and then to Vietnam's central city of Nha Trang, where his son, who had been in south Vietnam's Long An for several months, went to meet him.

Then the two patients both went to Ho Chi Minh City and Long An. The father and son began to have fever on Jan. 17 and Jan. 20 respectively, and were admitted to Cho Ray Hospital on Wednesday night.

The patients are now in stable condition.
