Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.12 percent, at 3,219.42 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.02 percent lower at 12,814.17 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indexes shrank to 569.38 billion yuan (about 83.58 billion U.S. dollars) from 679.31 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most stocks fell Friday, with losers outnumbering gainers by 870 to 507 at the Shanghai bourse, and by 1,393 to 786 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the agriculture and photoresist sectors led the losses.

Bucking the downward trend, shares related to tourism and securities rose, with Guangzhou Lingnan Group Holdings Company Limited climbing 9.98 percent to 10.25 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.18 percent to close at 2,540.43 points Friday. Enditem
