BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- A symposium on volunteer service was held in Beijing on Thursday, attracting officials from relevant departments, experts, scholars and representatives from enterprises to discuss volunteer service in the new era.
Attendees agreed that China's volunteer service is booming, with growing volunteer teams and a wider range of participation, and has already become an emerging force in advancing socialist modernization and improving the level of social civilization.
The symposium, jointly hosted by the Communist Party of China's central civilization office, the National Institute of Social Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Center of Volunteering Research, also marked the release of "The Chinese Journal of Volunteering," which is China's first academic journal of volunteer service theory.
