Mongolia to bring back at least 2,700 nationals from abroad on chartered flights in October

ULAN BATOR, Sept.25 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia is planning to bring back at least 2,700 stranded nationals from abroad on chartered flights in October amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a statement by the country's foreign ministry on Friday.

The Asian country is expected to operate 11 chartered flights to repatriate these people, the ministry said.

Following its suspension of international commercial flights, Mongolia has repatriated more than 23,000 nationals on chartered flights, buses or trains from different parts of the world.

As of Friday, the country has reported a total of 313 COVID-19 cases, all of which were imported.

No local transmissions or deaths have been reported in Mongolia so far. Enditem
