OTTAWA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Canada's gross domestic product (GDP) rose three percent in July, Statistics Canada said Wednesday.

It was the third consecutive monthly rise, offsetting the steepest drops experienced by Canadian economy activity in March and April due to the impact of COVID-19.

However, the economy is still about six percent below February's pre-pandemic levels.

All 20 industrial sectors posted increases in July as the agriculture, utilities, finance and insurance as well as real estate rental and leasing sectors surpassed their February pre-pandemic levels, joining retail trade which did so in June.

The goods-producing sector rose 3.2 percent in July, while the service-producing sector grew by three percent.

Overall, the country's economic recovery continued its course but at a more moderate pace than what was observed for the months of May to July.

Most sectors continued their growth trajectory in August with the exceptions of retail trade and public administration, which pulled back marginally. The economy is expected to increase one percent in August, Statistics Canada said. Enditem
