BEIRUT, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc said on Thursday that Lebanon's upcoming talks with Israel on land and maritime border demarcation has nothing to do with normalization of their ties.

The framework announced by Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri earlier this month for negotiating land and maritime border demarcation with Israel "aimed at protecting our national sovereignty, but it has no connection whatsoever with the context of reconciliation with the Zionist enemy that usurped Palestinian lands," the bloc, Loyalty to the Resistance, said in a statement in its first reaction to the talks.

It said it has nothing to do with the normalization policies recently adopted by Arab countries "which have never believed in the option of resistance or practiced it against the enemy of the Arab nation."

On Oct. 2, Berri announced a framework agreement for Lebanon's talks with Israel through the United Nations, under the U.S. auspices, on demarcating the maritime and land borders.

Berri said that the demarcation will help Lebanon economically.

Lebanon, which has no diplomatic ties with Israel, has an unresolved maritime border with Israel that involves a triangular sea area of about 860 square km extending along the edge of three of its 10 offshore energy blocks. Enditem
