Hong Kong reports 11 new COVID-19 cases, opens temporary centers for free testing

HONG KONG, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported 11 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing its total tally to 5,193.

The newly-reported cases included six imported ones, four local ones that were epidemiologically linked with previous cases, and one local case with unknown transmission source.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, 129 patients are still being treated in hospitals, including eight in critical condition.

Four temporary testing centers in Wan Chai, Kwai Tsing, Kowloon City and Yau Tsim Mong have all begun operation as of Monday, a spokesman of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government said.

In addition, 46 general outpatient clinics under the Hospital Authority have since Oct. 9 extended their time for distributing deep-throat saliva sample bottles.
