TAIPEI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Another three people had tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after leaving Taiwan, the island's epidemic monitoring agency said Wednesday.

According to the agency, it has launched an investigation after receiving notices from Japan about the cases.

Three Japanese nationals tested positive for the virus upon returning to Japan from Taiwan on Oct. 6, 7, and 10. One of them had frequently traveled between Japan and Taiwan, and the last entry into Taiwan was Sept. 3. The other two had been to Taiwan on July 23 and Aug. 25.

None of them have shown symptoms as of now, the agency said.

The Taiwan authority has identified 44 people having contact with them in Taiwan, and 15 of them have tested negative, it added.

The Japanese travelers have been the latest such cases. The agency announced on Oct. 7 that four people had tested positive for COVID-19 in Japan and France, shortly after leaving Taiwan.

Taiwan reported a total of 530 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, with seven deaths, according to the agency. Enditem
