Turkey confirms 1,815 new COVID-19 cases, 347,493 in total

ANKARA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkey reported 1,815 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, raising the total confirmed number in the country to 347,493.

Meanwhile, 72 people died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 9,296, while 1,504 patients recovered in the past 24 hours, raising the total recoveries to 304,003 in Turkey since the outbreak, the Health Ministry said.

Turkey conducted 101,403 tests for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of tests to 12,408,312.

The rate of pneumonia in COVID-19 patients is 5.9 percent and the number of seriously ill patients is 1,427.

Turkey reported the first COVID-19 case on March 11.

Turkey and China have supported each other in the fight against COVID-19.
