JERUSALEM, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military launched on Sunday a large-scale exercise that simulates a war on various fronts near the country's borders with Lebanon and Syria.

The aim of the "Lethal Arrow" exercise is to improve the army's "offensive capabilities at all echelons," a military spokesperson said in a statement.

The drill will also be used for implementing new procedures for coordination between the military's main headquarters, added the spokesperson.

Regular and reserve duty forces are participating in the five-day-long exercise, including the Air Force, Navy and Ground Forces, as well as the Intelligence Directorate, the Technological and Logistics Directorate and the Cyber Defense Directorate, according to the statement.

The exercise is part of the pre-scheduled military's 2020 training plan, the army said.

"During the exercise, an elevated level of IDF fighter jets, attack helicopters and other aircraft traffic will be tangible across the country," the statement read, adding that increased traffic of security forces, vehicles and vessels is expected across the country.

Israel has acknowledged to carry out multiple airstrikes in Syria, saying the attacks aimed at Iranian targets and Hezbollah weapons convoys. Enditem
