BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

PARIS -- France registered 52,010 new cases of COVID-19 infection in a 24-hour span, a new daily record after a record 45,422 on Saturday, according to the Public Health Agency on Sunday.

France now has a cumulative number of 1,138,507 coronavirus cases since the start of the epidemic. A further 116 patients died from the disease in the 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 34,761.

ANKARA -- Turkey confirmed 2,017 new COVID-19 patients on Sunday, raising the total diagnosed patients to 361,801.

Meanwhile, 72 people died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 9,799, the Turkish Health Ministry announced.

LONDON -- Another 19,790 people in Britain have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 873,800, according to official figures released Sunday.

The coronavirus-related deaths in Britain rose by 151 to 44,896, the data showed.

BUDAPEST -- Hungary registered 3,149 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, a new daily record since the outbreak of the epidemic in the country, according to the government's coronavirus information website.

Figures from the website showed that the total number of confirmed cases since the COVID-19 outbreak in Hungary stood at 59,247, with 16,242 recoveries and 1,425 fatalities. Currently, 2,449 COVID-19 patients are being treated in hospital, including 221 on ventilators.

URUMQI -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has identified 137 new asymptomatic cases of COVID-19, as of 2 p.m. on Sunday, local health authorities said.

All the new cases were reported in south Xinjiang's Kashgar Prefecture after a 17-year-old female villager from the prefecture's Shufu County was confirmed as an asymptomatic carrier of the virus on Saturday during routine nucleic acid testing.

HANOI -- Vietnam reported eight new cases of COVID-19 infection on Sunday, bringing its total confirmed cases to 1,168 with 35 deaths from the disease so far, according to its Ministry of Health.

The new cases, including two one-year-old boys, are all Vietnamese citizens who have recently entered the country from abroad and were quarantined upon arrival, said the ministry.
