JAKARTA, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Floods and landslides killed two people in four sub-districts in Pangandaran district, West Java province, on Tuesday, according to the National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB).

The four sub-districts are Padaherang, Langkaplancar, Sidamulih and Parigi, said Raditya Jati, the agency's head of Data, Information and Disaster Communication Center.

In addition, 311 people were affected and 11 houses were submerged by the natural disasters.

"Floods and landslides occurred due to a high rainfall intensity and an unstable soil structure," Jati said on Tuesday.

Currently, officers are still distributing relief aid and evacuating residents.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds would still occur until Wednesday. Enditem
