BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Director Peter Ho-sun Chan's sports film "Leap" has won critical acclaim since its Sept. 25 release and is set to see its box office run in China extended by one month until Nov. 27.

The news came as the film saw its total Chinese box office revenues surpass 800 million yuan (about 120 million U.S. dollars).

The film recounts the stories of the Chinese national women's volleyball team over the last 40 years, cinematically depicting the team's struggles and efforts to win glory for the country.

Starring Gong Li as legendary volleyball coach Lang Ping, it boasts respective ratings of 9.1 points and 7.4 points out of 10 on film data platforms Maoyan and Douban.

The release of "Leap" was originally scheduled for the Spring Festival in January this year but was postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Enditem
