ANKARA, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Turkish security forces killed six members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, its defense ministry said Tuesday.

The six PKK members, who were detected through reconnaissance and surveillance, were killed in airstrikes in the Zap and Gara regions, the ministry said on Twitter.

They were plotting an attack, the ministry added, noting Turkey will continue its anti-terror operations.

The Turkish Armed Forces have been carrying out cross-border operations in northern Iraq, a region where PKK members are hiding themselves.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for more than 30 years, which has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people. Enditem
