North Macedonia's interior minister tests positive for COVID-19

SKOPJE, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Minister of Interior of North Macedonia Oliver Spasovski has tested positive for COVID-19, the Media Information Agency (MIA) reported on Tuesday.

According to MIA, the news was made public by Spasovski, who wrote about it in his Facebook account on Monday evening.

Spasovski wrote that he was stable with mild symptoms and was in home isolation.

"Despite the fact that I strictly observed all precautions for my own protection and those around me since the beginning of the pandemic, tonight I tested positive for COVID-19," Spasovski wrote.

On Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev declared that after taking the test for COVID-19, it resulted negative.

"It is very important that we all protect our own health and the health of everyone else around us. By respecting measures and recommendations, each of us can contribute to public health," Zaev wrote.

On Tuesday, the Health Ministry reported 628 new coronavirus cases and 15 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in North Macedonia to 27,827, with 19,479 recoveries and 949 fatalities. Enditem
