SAN SALVADOR, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Civil Protection Directorate of El Salvador on Wednesday reported one death from Eta, a tropical strom that has been battering Central America with heavy rains.

William Hernandez, director of the agency, said the victim is a 44-year-old fisherman who went out to sea despite a ban issued on Monday due to the indirect impacts of the storm located in the border between Honduras and Nicaragua.

"Despite the fact that the government issued an order suspending all fishing activity, both traditional and sport fishing, the man went out to do traditional fishing and unfortunately died," Hernandez said.

The fisherman's death occurred at the El Espino Beach in the southeastern department of Usulutan.

El Salvador remains on red alert due to heavy rains that have uprooted trees and caused landslides and flooding. Enditem
