Zambia to host world communication forum

LUSAKA, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Zambia has been selected to host the first-ever World Communication Forum Africa Conference where professional communicators will meet, a government spokesperson said on Thursday.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Dora Siliya said the forum will be held from Nov. 24 to Nov. 25 in Lusaka, the country's capital.

She said during a press briefing that journalists, brand managers and public relations practitioners will gather for the two-day event to brainstorm among other issues challenges of digitalization in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are pleased that the World Communication Forum will for the first time be held here. It is expected that at this forum a number of issues will be discussed," she said.

Among topical issues for discussion includes digitalization, the importance of technology in communication and crisis communication and how the media could be used as a tool for national building.

She added that the forum will also discuss the importance of territorial branding in the wake of the competition that has engulfed the global economy.

The forum will be held alongside the Women in Influence Conference which will discuss what challenges and opportunities women faced in the digital era. Enditem
