Morocco reports highest 5,836 daily COVID-19 cases

RABAT, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Morocco reported on Saturday 5,836 new COVID-19 cases, the highest daily spike since the start of outbreak in the country on March 2.

According to the new data published by the ministry of health, Morocco now has a total of 252,185 coronavirus cases, and 4,197 people have died from the virus, including 70 new deaths in the past 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Morocco increased to 205,556 after 4,602 new ones were added, while 935 patients are in intensive care units, the ministry of health said.

Casablanca remains the worst-hit region in the country with 2,409 newly confirmed cases and 21 deaths during the last 24 hours.

Morocco on Thursday extended the state of health emergency across the county until Dec. 10, as part of its efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Enditem
